Looking for inspiration to find the perfect A-list set of shades? Well, we can’t think of a better way to pick out the best trends and styles than from the big screen.
Movie stars aren’t strangers to Ray-Ban Sunglasses on or off the silver screen. Between 1982 and 1987, Ray-Ban sunglasses starred in over 60 movies and television shows every year. This was aided by the $50,000 a year deal with Unique Product Placement of Burban, California to show Ray-ans in movies and television.
This deal followed Ray-Bans disappointment of only selling 18,000 Ray-Ban sunglasses in 1981. This marks the time that the Wayfarers were on the verge of discontinuation. The effort to get Ray-Bans competing in the eyewear market continued through 2007, as the shades appeared in movies such as Risky Business, Miami Vice, and The Breakfast club. This led to a significant increase in sales and they hit 1.5 million annually.
In the 1986 the release of Top Gun starring Tom Cruise as Lieutenant Pete “Maverick” Mitchell, wore a pair of Ray-Ban’s 3025’s, also known as the Ray-Ban Aviator. The exact colour of the sunglasses that Tom Cruise wears in the film is unknown but it is assumed that they probably featured a gold frame with grey/green lenses. Time magazine reported that after Top Gun was aired, the sales of Ray-Ban Aviator sunglasses increased by 40%.
The Ray-Ban 3025 is available in a range of sizes and colour combinations.
Men in Black
In 1997, the action filled blockbuster, Men in Black, hit our screens. Men in Black starred the infamous Will Smith, who played Agent J alongside Agent K played by Tommy Lee Jones. Whilst saving the world from invading aliens the pair do it in style, wearing Ray-Ban 2027 Predators II.
It seems that their shades proved vital for Will Smith’s character, Agent J, as they stored the important ‘memory eraser laser’ that prevents New York City’s civilians from remembering their alien-induced trauma.
The Ray-Ban Predators II are a smooth, slick frame with subtle raised edges around the lenses and the arms of the sunglasses. Although, you might not be guaranteed to get the memory eraser with these shades, we can guarantee that they boast highly advanced lenses and UV protection.

Wolf of Wall Street
If you want the look of a billionaire, then there’s no better r than the shades worn by Jordan Belford in the Wolf of Wall Street. Jordan Belford, played by the one and only Leonardo DiCaprio rocked a few iconic frames during the film. These include some Ray-Ban classics such as the Ray Ban 4147, a rectangle frame in a tortoise shell colour and also the Ray-Ban 2140.
If you’re looking for your inner Wolf of Wall Street, then Ray-Ban is your go to brand!
Fast and Furious 7
Do you feel the need for speed? If so, the Ray-Ban RB4147 sunglasses are for you. The high street square sunglasses earnt their speed proof certificate when they were worn by Ludacris in Fast and Furious 7.
The Ray-Ban aviators are suspected to have been worn by Bradley Cooper in the blockbuster comedy, The Hangover. It is thought that the shades he wears have a silver frame outlining pink or red lenses. However, those pernickety viewers have noticed that the colour of the lenses don’t appear to match any of the standard colours that Ray Ban offer. Therefore, suggesting that Bradley Cooper’s shades are a custom lens.
The Blues Brothers
The Ray-Ban Wayfarer heavily featured in the 1980’s film, The Blues Brothers. After losing their appeal in the seventies, the Wayfarer shades made a comeback after the release of The Blues Brothers. The release of The Blues Brothers not only marked the beginning of the revival of the Ray-Ban icon, it also marked the point in the early eighties in which product placements began within film and television.
Unfortunately, we can’t all be movie stars, however, that doesn’t mean that we can’t try and be like them by sharing the same unique taste in our Ray-Ban Glasses.
